The OBD is the On-Board Diagnostic portal which provides access to the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) of the vehicle during servicing and maintenance. It is where your service agent will plug their computer/diagnostic machine into, in order to run updates or diagnostics on your car. However, most vehicles which are taken without the keys, are stolen using devices which plug into the OBD port. Most of these devices are pre-programmed so once they are plugged into the vehicle, the alarm is turned off and the the vehicle can then be hacked. Using the device, the thieves are able to trick the vehicle into thinking a key is present, and they are able to drive the vehicle away - usually in less than 30 seconds.
The obd Portector is a revolutionary, innovative piece of hardware which permanently integrates into your vehicle without the need to cut into wiring. The obd Portector works by stopping the information travelling to the OBP port and therefore prevents a thief from accessing it, essentially closing the OBD port whilst Portectoer is armed.
Portector provides the owner with the authorisation as to whom gets access to the vehicles information with 'OBD Port Authorisation Cards'. These cards are required to temporarily switch off Portector and allows full access to the vehicle.
